Agnes Roach, MBA '80, Receives 2012 Alumni Service Award

The Chicago Women's Alliance extends its congratulations, and thanks, to Agnes Roach, MBA '80, for receiving the 2012 Alumni Service Award from The University of Chicago.  Recognized among fellow volunteers as a visionary, Agnes cofounded two University of Chicago groups - the still vibrant The University of Chicago Women's Business Group (UCWBG), in 1980, and The University of Chicago, Chicago Women's Alliance (CWA), in 2006. UCWBG was the first alumni club established for Chicago Booth and laid the groundwork for reconnecting an underserved sector of Booth's alumni population.  CWA was developed to broaden the cultural experiences of University alumna.

A CFP with more than twenty-five years of experience in her own financial planning business, Ms. Roach is also a founding member of the Gurnee Women's Business Association (1994) and the Financial Planning Association of Illinois (2000) and has served in various capacities on several other association boards.

In response to hearing of the award, Agnes writes:  "It is a wonderful honor, and I was thrilled to hear that I was chosen to receive a 2012 Alumni Service Award from a great academic leader, The University of Chicago, which I hold in hign esteem.

"Even before I was a University of Chicago student, I had very positive experiences with the deans who assisted my application process to this top univeristy. The professors I had and the library resources all were terrific as I studied. Establishing continued ties such as The University of Chicago Women's Business Group and the Chicago Women's Alliance came naturally. It is terrific for me, and for all the women who have been involved in these two groups, to be honored by this great institution!

"I would like to thank the Alumni Board of Governors for this great award and also wish to thank all the women who have served on the boards of UCWBG and CWA, as well as all the speakers and members who have contributed to the success of both these University of Chicago groups."
